Sahan Society Centre and its members actively take part in seminars and talks on community related progress and issues. The members have decided, for instance, to voice their concerns about environmental crimes that are visible to them and wanted to take action to solve the problem. A group of the young members had taken part in a project called We Can Change It, a documentary aimed at addressing this issue and raising awareness of the concerns raised by the local community. This was in partnership with the local school and police and was a seen as a success. Sahan Society Centre sits on the board of the executive committee in the Hillingdon Community and Police Consultative Group where local crime issues are discussed. The minutes of the meetings are then discussed with our members through our weekly workshop sessions. SSC continues to collaborate with local charities and community stakeholders like the Metropolitan Police, Hillingdon Council, Hillingdon Hospital and PCT, Hillingdon LINK and other important stakeholders and ensure that the voices of our members are heard and that we encourage members to access their services as much as possible.
